In the summer of 2025, a group of young filmmakers arrived in the Arbëreshë village of San Costantino Albanese for the Audiovisual Ethnography Summer School. Over their stay, small teams - each pairing an Italian participant with an international one - explored local traditions through their own lenses. Out of Frame is a short highlight video that takes you behind the scenes, capturing the lively, curious, and often unexpected moments shared between the filmmakers and the local community.
Beyond Out of Frame, I also created a shorter video, Rrofshin Sa Malet (May They Live as Long as the Mountains), to condense the intense experience of the Summer School. It distills the narrative arc of Out of Frame into a split-screen visual style, highlighting not only the relationship between the filmmakers and their interlocutors, but also the connection between the Summer School and the everyday life of the village.
