I was born in China, where I completed my first master’s degree in piano performance. In 2014, I moved to Italy to continue my studies at the University of Bologna, where I discovered a strong interest in Asian ritual performances. This curiosity led me to Nepal in 2016, where I began fieldwork with the Newar community in the Kathmandu Valley.
In 2019, I received a Ph.D. scholarship from the University of Bologna that allowed me to return to Bhaktapur and continue my research. During this time, I became increasingly inspired by audiovisual storytelling as a way to share my work and give something meaningful back to the communities I worked with.
In 2023, after completing my Ph.D. in Visual, Performing and Media Arts, I received the Diego Carpitella Scholarship from the Fondazione Giorgio Cini (Venice) and created my first feature documentary, Devagan. The film was later selected for the RAI Film Festival (2025) and won the Best Documentary Film or Video Award from the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance (2024).
From 2023 to 2025, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Milan (under the PNRR framework), exploring the relationship between sound, music practices, and the urban space of Milan. Currently I'm collaborating with the Audiovisual Ethnography Lab (LEAV) on a project about musical traditions in the Arbëreshë community in Basilicata.
Alongside my research and filmmaking, I am also the artistic director of Dong Xun, an ensemble of young Chinese musicians living in Italy.
