I'm an ethnomusicologist based in Milan. My research explores ritual performances in the Himalayan region and the musical traditions of southern Italy. My work weaves together listening, looking, ethnography and artistic practice, encountering life through the lens of audiovisual storytelling.
In 2023, after completing my Ph.D. in Visual, Performing and Media Arts at the University of Bologna, I received the Diego Carpitella Scholarship from the Fondazione Giorgio Cini (Venice) and created my first feature documentary, Devagan. The film was later selected for the RAI Film Festival (2025) and received the Best Documentary Film or Video Award from the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance (2024).
From 2023 to 2025, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Milan (under the PNRR framework), exploring the relationship between sound, music practices, and the urban space of Milan. Currently I'm collaborating with the Audiovisual Ethnography Lab (LEAV - University of Milan) and with an ERC project MANTRAMS (Mantras in Religion, Media and Society in Global Southern Asia) at the University of Tübingen.
Alongside my research and filmmaking, I am also the artistic director of Dong Xun, an ensemble of Chinese musicians living in Italy.
